BILINGUAL WEDDING IN HUNGARY

What is an MC?

During the wedding reception, the multifaceted responsibility of the Master of Ceremony (MC) is to keep the agenda flowing smoothly by:

  • skillfully capturing and maintaining the attention of the wedding guests
  • effectively directing their attention on whatever the bride and groom have chosen to include
  • keeping the wedding attendees informed so at any given moment they know what is happening
  • comfortably guiding the bride’s and groom’s friends and family so they know what they are supposed to do to participate

The role of the Wedding Master of Ceremony incorporates a wide range of skills, and those who serve in this capacity have frequently undergone extensive training in the following areas:

  • Delivering Applause Cues
  • Presenting Introductions
  • Microphone technique
  • Posture and Stance
  • Voice Inflection
  • Staging (theatre)

Masters of Ceremony at weddings and private events also ensure the coordination of their event, including liaison with catering staff.

“My job is to build a bridge over cultural differencies and to make sure everybody enjoys the party without discomfort. Bilingual or multicultural weddings are the most exciting family events ever. This is the reason I can’t wait to start every wedding season.”

Wedding Conductor

Being an Emcee on your wedding means for me to be the “conductor” of your “wedding orchestra”: vendors, venues, family, friends – and you. The real acknowledgment for me is when a groom takes this note in my wedding diary:

“It looked so easier to manage our wedding then it supposed to be. Thanks for letting us be only guest on our special day.”

Your Right (and Left) Hand

You have a list of vendors working on your wedding: event planner, photographer, cinematographer, catering staff, etc. The wedding MC’s job is to be your right hand on your wedding, having a leading role.

“I could not be happier not to be a leader on my special holiday. It was worth having someone taking this responsibilty”

The Facilitator

Having a multinational – multicultural – wedding? How to balance the Hungarian and foreign traditions without hurting anyone’s soul – especially if it’s your future mother-in-law? The wedding MC should be your guide.

“Hungarian traditions are very colorful, yet little understood by us. I was worried if we can manage all. Thanks for the guidance”
